Changeover to energy - saving LEDs across the entire logistics area

Winkels - Sachsenheim, Germany - with four logistics centers and a fleet of 150 trucks, Winkels Getränke Logistik GmbH is the leading beverage logistics company in southwestern Germany. Winkels ensures the transport of more than 64 million beverage crates per year between industry and trade and provides for the return of empty containers. The portfolio of over 5.700 products includes not only the regionally important own brands, but also products from breweries, mineral springs and the fruit juice industry. From this broad range, Winkels supplies retail chains, service stations, beverage wholesalers, beverage distributors, canteens and restaurants. Winkels employs almost 900 people and generates annual sales of EUR 400.3 million.

At the headquarters of Winkels in Sachsenheim, the logistics areas were converted to the energy-saving and environmentally friendly LED with intelligent lighting control management.
 

Certos

The challenge for the new lighting solution was to achieve good and uniform illumination of the logistics areas with good lighting quality and the greatest possible energy savings as well as a low failure rate. n addition to safety and occupational health aspects, the new lighting solution also had to ensure the interference-free readability of the barcodes. The Certos LED highbay luminaire was used in the company’s indoor and covered outdoor areas. In order to illuminate the different areas and shelves in the best possible way, the luminaire was used in different wattages and beam characteristics. In this way, a uniform light output without dark zones was achieved. In addition to excellent light quality, the Certos has a low glare effect despite LED lens technology, making work pleasant for employees both during the day and at night. The luminaire’s high-quality components further ensure a low flicker index, which on the one hand ensures trouble-free operation of the scanner systems and thus a smooth process, and on the other hand provides lighting that is “gentle on health”. To further optimize energy savings, the lighting in the entire plant was equipped with intelligent lighting management.
 

Berzelia & Morisia Flood

For the lighting of the outdoor areas with further storage areas, loading and unloading and the access road belongs, the choice fell on the luminaires Berzelia and the floodlight Morisia. Here, too, the luminaires were used in different optics for optimal illumination of the various areas. The high quality of light and low glare of the Morisia and Berzelia further ensure high visual performance and high visual comfort, and thus good and pleasant working conditions under good safety conditions.
