Elmia Congress & Concert Hall

Fewer luminaires, and better light than before

Elmia AB is one of the Nordic region's leading trade fair companies that annually arranges various trade fairs in a number of different business areas, including conferences, congresses and events. Jönköping Fastighetsutveckling AB is an independent real estate company that owns and manages the municipality's properties, including the Elmia Exhibition and Congress Center. By upgrading the lighting in halls A and D, an energy saving of about 60 percent has been achieved.

During the pandemic, the exhibition companies' premises stood empty for a longer time and Elmia Exhibition and Congress center decided to do maintenance on the properties during that period of time. With the help from Jönköpings Fastighetsutveckling AB and the installation company Midroc Electro, new lighting was installed in two of the fair's halls.
“By replacing older lighting (2x58W T8 luminaires) with Aura Light's energy-efficient LED luminaire, we have been able to replace approximately 1,100 luminaires with only 650 and maintain or even have a better light than before”, says Nedo Sever, Business Developer at Jönköpings Fastighetsutveckling AB.

High ceilings require luminaires with high efficiency

It is the industrial luminaire Sarek that is mounted in the ceiling in exhibition halls A and D. The luminaire is energy efficient and easy to install, says Niklas Alvarsson, Department Manager at Midroc Electro.
“The work with the installation has gone very smoothly, the luminaire is very installation-friendly. In comparison with previous lighting, you can now also choose to light up the hall in sections, something that enables further energy and environmental savings. The luminaire has a very high lumen per watt, which is why it fits well in rooms with high ceilings. Of course, it also feels extra fun that Sarek is produced in Vimmerby”, says Niklas.
With the reduced number of luminaires and the new technology, Elmia will reach an energy saving of approximately 60% in the two halls.
“In both halls, we save about 230,000 kilowatt hours per year with the new solution and have a payback period of about 5-6 years. In energy costs, we save approximately SEK 200,000 per year. So, this is a very good upgrade for Elmia”, concludes Nedo Sever.

In Elmia's A-hall, 450 luminaires have been replaced by 200 Sarek. Despite fewer luminaires, the light is much better than before.

In both halls, a total of 1 100 luminaires have been replaced by 650. An annual saving of 230 000 kWh, which corresponds to around SEK 200 000.

For the installer, Sarek luminaire is very easy to work with. It is robust and sturdy and is both quick and easy to install.
