Aura Light gets order from the European Parliament in Strasbourg

The European Parliament in Strasbourg has chosen Swedish company Aura Light’s environmentally-friendly fluorescent lamps for their green profile and reduced energy consumption.

The European Parliament in Strasbourg has chosen Aura Light’s energy saving Eco Saver Long Life fluorescent lamps. The fluorescent lamps are being installed in the European Parliament’s huge chamber in Strasbourg. With Eco Saver lamps, the European Parliament will see an energy saving of 12 percent. The lamps also have a service life which is three times longer than the equivalent standard product. This means that only a third as many replacements need to be made, which will reduce environmental impact, as the raw materials, production, transport, packaging and waste will be reduced by two thirds.

“By installing Aura’s Eco Saver lamps, we reduce our total maintenance costs for lighting by over 83,000 Euros during the lifetime of the lamps. The new fluorescent lamps can be used in the existing fittings, which means that no further investment is required,” says Marjanovic Bratislav, CFO at Axima Maintenance, which is responsible for service and maintenance at the European Parliament.

Eco Saver reduces the environmental impact by two thirds thanks to Long Life technology and reduces energy consumption by over 250 kWh per fluorescent lamp. For the European Parliament in Strasbourg, that has a clear environmental policy, this equals an energy saving of 25 000 kWh per year.

“We are very proud that the European Parliament has chosen Aura’s environmentally-friendly fluorescent lamps. The choice of Eco Saver is fully in line with the Parliament’s green focus and also provides reduced energy and maintenance costs,” says Martin Malmros, Group Director of Aura Light International AB.

The results of this installation are now being assessed to decide where further savings can be made by installing Aura’s environmentally friendly fluorescent lamps and lighting solutions.
