Aura makes business acquisition in the lighting energy-saving sector

Stockholm, Sweden, 2 June 2008

Aura, the lighting company, has acquired Elmetec, a manufacturer of electronic control devices and light control systems, from the Danish Tempress company. With Elmetec’s products, customers can reduce their energy consumption for lighting by up to 50 percent.

Aura supplies Long Life light sources that are guaranteed to last at least three times as long as standard products on the market. As a result, customers can save both money and the environment, since only a third of all potential light source replacements are still needed. In addition, the environmental impact is reduced to a third when it comes to production, transportation, and waste, etc.

For a number of years Aura has been working together with Elmetec to offer turnkey Long Life solutions, where, with the aid of control devices and systems, energy consumption can be reduced by up to 50 percent, thereby saving both on maintenance and energy. This results in reduced costs and a reduction in the strain imposed on the environment.

"Aura’s Long Life light sources, in combination with Elmetec’s products, result in service life that is three to four times longer than that of standard products, as well as energy savings of 50 percent, giving a very competitive lighting solution", says Martin Malmros, CEO and Group Director of Aura Light International AB.

"We already enjoyed a good working relationship before, and since the market is showing strong interest in our joint solutions, it is natural that it should in fact be Aura that takes Elmetec’s products forward into the future," says Bjørn Sahl, CEO of Tempress A/S.

Elmetec’s electronic control devices are designed to deal with changing temperatures and to be resistant to moisture, vibrations and other stresses. This, together with their long service life, makes them effectively maintenance-free. With the help of Elmetec’s Constant Light System, light levels can be controlled and energy consumption reduced.
