The worlds first HPS Long Life lamp has been installed

The Swedish food company, AAK, AarhusKarlshamn, is the first company in the world to install Aura Light’s Aura Sodinette high-pressure sodium lamp, with Long Life properties. The lifetime of the lamp is 48 000 hours (standard is 12 000 hours), and this contributes to a safer working environment and better lighting economy for the company.

AAK manufactures speciality vegetable fats for use in such produce as food, chocolate and confectionery products, and in the cosmetics industry. The company’s quayside seed warehouse in Karlshamn, which is 100 metres long has a 14-metre high ceiling to enable lorries and wheelloaders to drive around, problem-free. In this intensive environment, it is however, almost impossible for electricians to get to the lamps to replace them.

”I like to try out new technology, and I immediately saw the possibilities of Aura Light’s new lamps,” explains Christer Mattsson, Electrician at AAK. ”Previously, we had to replace individual lamps one at a time, but I now believe it will not be necessary to replace any lamp in the warehouse within the next ten years!”  

Economic and Ergonomic
The advantages of Aura SODINETTE Long Life are many. The long lifetime of the lamp and its exceptionally low defect rate will enable us to save time and money, because we will avoid expensive, time-consuming replacements that cause disruptions in production or traffic. This is good for the maintenance, warehousing and transport personnel’s working environment, as it ensures strong, maintenance-free lighting and minimises the number of risky replacements carried out at height.

Over and above this, the high-pressure sodium lamp is environmentally friendly as it only uses one-third as much raw material, one-third as much energy for manufacture, and one-third of the transport costs.

Smart, Long-term Investment
Christer Mattsson visited Aura Light’s stand at the Elfack 2007 trade fair in Göteborg, Sweden in May, and received information about the brand new lamp. In August, the first high-pressure sodium lamps from Aura Light were installed in the Karlshamn warehouse.   
”We had already bought other lamps, but I saw that these were even better,” says Christer Mattsson.  

Security Warranty
”We have used Aura Light’s Long Life lamps before. They are, of course, pioneers as regards Long Life,” he continues. ”Now that high-pressure sodium has appeared in the Long Life version with a lifetime of 48 000 hours, I thought it was worth trying this out, especially as they possess the conviction to issue a warranty that is, without doubt, the best in the market.”

Aura Light’s new security warranty gives the customer a five-year total warranty. If the product does not do what they promise, despite Aura Light’s extensive life tests, Aura Light will compensate the customer both for the cost of replacement and for the lamp. This means that the customer does not take any financial risk when changing to Aura SODINETTE Long Life.
